OOD(Overwatch Open Division) – Blizzard’s next step into big esports

During the competition, such cards as Assault, Nepal, Hybrid, Control will be presented, and you will find out the rest when you come. The game process will be presented on real servers without the use of skins. In case of defeat on the first card, the team will be given a choice of a separate pool of cards, and the winner will decide which side to play for. A 10-minute pause is also available during the match. If any of the team does not meet this time, then it will be counted as an automatic defeat. Penalties for being late are also provided. Blizzard has radically revised its priorities regarding Overwatch as an esports discipline. As a result, the company decided that the four best teams of the 2020 season will play with the four teams from the lower bracket of the past, and the best players will remain in the competition, regardless of the team result. Trials – this is the name given to this direction.

What will the winners get?

The winners of the OOD will receive cash prizes in the amount of $ 1,800 as a reward and will be included in the major leagues and guaranteed to secure a place in future competitions. All other participants who took 5th-16th place in the standings will be rewarded with a $20 coin for each team member.

OOD 2019 was a kind of training base, a springboard for future events. That year, both the players and the audience were tested for strength. Organized in 2019, the tournament was a novelty for players fighting among themselves without much incentive. And the organizers gave each of them a chance to try their hand at esports. The North American region was used for testing. 43 teams registered their slot and started their big marathon, which was openly broadcast. Everyone present had only positive emotions.
