The new season of League Overwatch has pleased players with a new format and a bunch of other buns. Sanghai Dragons won the season, and the team standings continued to storm throughout the entire period of the competition. There were reasons for this: frequent changes in the line-ups, loss of sponsors, etc. It was difficult to predict anything, especially for those who placed bets during the tournament. Now that the lineups are stable, we can draw conclusions about each of the teams and what they are capable of. It is not worth waiting for any changes until the next season.

Everything new is well-forgotten old

The surprises that accompanied the players throughout 2021 will not end in 2022. The release of Overwatch 2 is not far off, which means that changes are inevitably destined to be. Players will have to get used to new heroes, maps, game formats and the removal of important combat units from the game. Based on the statistics of the games, we see that not everyone is ready for this, and many of the changed squads will play with what is available.

Changes in the composition of the teams

For the Houston Outlaws, this year turned out to be particularly difficult, albeit productive. Despite a string of victories, players under the nicknames JJANGGU and Joobi ended their Overwatch careers. Harsha did the same, putting the trainer’s gloves on the table. It is not yet clear who will close this gap in the team, but there are enough young promising players. The team does not intend to despair, since the strong players have not yet left the ship.

Florida Mayhem has lost its favorites: BQB, OGE. They played many matches together, but they couldn’t jump over their heads. Let’s hope they still have everything ahead of them.

Dallas Fuel, to the surprise of the audience, showed excellent results, taking third place in the season, but having undergone changes, they also lost key players, namely Pine and coach Yong.

Results of changes

As can be seen from the report, the ranks of a significant part of the teams have thinned. But the teams still have time until April to rectify the situation and assemble stronger squads.

Follow the news to find out about all player transfers first.

The Dragons lifted the Champions Cup over their heads

The title of champion now belongs to the dragons. The team has come a long way: from a series of defeats to a seemingly impossible dream. And this record was set in just 3 months.

The year 2021 was difficult for all players: constant changes in the lineups, loss of pace and mood of many teams. But despite this, the season turned out to be productive, and the discipline has not lost its relevance. The League 2021 final was not without highlights and amazing performance from all the teams. All the viewers probably enjoyed and were pleasantly surprised by what was happening on the screen.

Total domination of the winner

The finalists are certainly good, but let’s not forget about those teams that got into the top three of the standings. Shock and Dallas were breathing down the Dragons’ backs all the way to the title. Shanghai also showed good results, dryly beating teams of equal strength.

Small statistics on team games:

  1. Dallas beat Washington 3-1.
  2. Chengdu beat Atlanta 3:2 by one point, but failed to cope with Dallas and, as a result, sadly left with a score of 0:3

Lose, but not broken

Tough selection in the final bracket put an end to the confrontation between Shock and Shanghai, where the former had a real chance to emerge victorious. Double standards have once again proved to be an unpleasant side. Shanghai occupied the leading position in the standings, did not give way to Shock. Dallas Fuel were defeated by Reign, who, having passed into the final grid, remained in it.

Those who followed the events of Overwatch can sleep peacefully – everything ended well.

The bets on the teams are almost all played, which means we will keep the money until next season. Have fun playing games and don’t get sick.

In popular culture, it has been consistently proven that size does not depend on the success and power of nature. Few will forget little Yodo against Count Dooku and Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars series, with more and more heroes of all shapes and sizes.

This change is now evident in many well-known eSports articles, perhaps no more so than in the first-person shooter on Overwatch. Since its release in 2016, the game has proven to be a huge success in Blizzard development, based on the huge success of its professional Overwatch League competition.

Overwatch Characters Height

Part of what makes players happy is that each game can choose between different characters in the Overwatch world, each with different skills and abilities. These characters vary in length and age, and our list below shows the size of each Overwatch character:

  • 1.4 mi – Reinhardt, Orissa;
  • 1.20 yd – Bastion with Roadhog (Winston even stands);
  • 2.18 m – Disaster;
  • 1.96 m – Junkarati;
  • 1.95 m – Zaria, Moira;
  • 1.91 m – Brigitte;
  • 1.85 m – Raper, Soldier: 76, McCree;
  • 1.82 m – Ana, Odmev;
  • 1.80 m – departure;
  • 1.75 m – I ve;
  • 1.73 m – Hanzo;

There are no more heroes found in the official length records, but it is estimated that they are based on comparisons with their “hero” character in the game and other characters known for their size. These heroes are shown in handwriting.

There are three characters whose length can be confirmed. These are Wrecking Ball, Baptiste and Sigma.

This information has been gathered by Blizzard for many different topics, videos, jokes, conventions and events. It is also good to note that some changes in the game, such as characters wearing special weapons (such as helmets), can increase the overall size of the character while wearing that particular outfit players of the season.

Overwatch Characters Age

In addition to character sizes, Blizzard controlled the ages of Overwatch characters, from over 61 incredible characters to younger and younger actors. All numbers are years:

  • Under 1 year – Orisa (Orisa started fighting in the game at 1 month old);
  • 14 – Wrecking Ball;
  • 19 – D’Va;
  • 20 – Zenyatta;
  • 23 – Brigitte;

The launch of the Overwatch League 2021 season marked the beginning of a new phase for the competitive game Overwatch. Along with the launch of the last season, a new, previously unknown format was also launched. It affected long-time players, most of whom retired, which was not the case before. The 2021 season is undergoing a major change, with many teams changing positions. Many players are left perplexed because the top 2021 teams are not at the top. It turns out that the biggest teams of 2021 are not the teams everyone wanted to see. A look at the OWL power rankings shows some serious changes.

Given that the 2021 season isn’t over yet and there’s another cup to be fought for, the Overwatch League rankings were based only on theoretical data and player comparisons. The purpose of this ranking was to predict which OWL teams would be the strongest and would be at the top of the list.

We will create a list that will divide all teams into 4 tiers, with 5 teams in each tier. The exact data on the positions of teams in the standings is extremely difficult to predict. This is since the format and composition of the teams will be changed. At each level, the teams can be arranged as they wish. It is safe to say, however, that 90% of the teams will be exactly where they are at that moment. The best teams often change their position in the standings, so everyone should keep an eye on the league, as it develops very rapidly.

With that said, let’s get started.

C-LEVEL TEAMS (16-20)

The following are 5 teams that didn’t exactly perform well in the Overwatch League season. That doesn’t mean they’re out this year, but they need to work hard to take the lead.

20. LONDON SPITFIRE

The team’s main player is Jeffery ‘Blasé’ Tsang.

The Spitfire team boasts a revamped roster for the 2021 season. To date, “Blase” can be called the team’s most successful player. Overall, though, Spitfire was very weak in 2021. The player in question has played for Houston in the past. He distinguished himself by his quality play at London, but it still did not allow the team to achieve positive results and become successful.

The other players on the London Spitfires had serious expectations from the beginning, but they didn’t quite live up to them. The team has serious potential, but it needs to try very hard to unlock it and move up in the ranking of the strongest teams in the OWL. Today the team, unfortunately, is at the bottom.

19. VANCOUVER TITANS

The main player of the team is Jiri “LiNkzr” Masalin.

The Vancouver Titans had some serious expectations for the team in 2021, but not everything went smoothly. The team had been in the league since the beginning of its release and changed its roster in 2020. The Vancouver Titans have had great results in other tournaments. But in 2021, they have not been able to continue to perform as well as they have in the past.

We probably shouldn’t expect the Vancouver Titans to return this year. The team ranks fairly low in the OWL rankings. So it’s unlikely to be a good fit if you’re picking a team to be the leader. But don’t despair, there is a chance that the team will regain its position as early as next year.

18. LOS ANGELES VALIANT

The team’s main player is Zhang “Haibi” Zening.

Even before the start of the 2021 season, the Los Angeles Valiant announced its full roster, which included players and staff. Such a move could be called a gamble. There are times when a new roster and staff make a big difference in a team’s standing. Unfortunately, Los Angeles Valiant’s venture turned out to be a failure. The new roster is filled with successful players, for example, there are Haiby and Crystal. But the big drawback was that such good players couldn’t work together.

An entire season for Valiant has not gone well. While competing in the 2021 tournaments, the team regularly failed to even make the qualifying rounds. Overwatch League rankings placed the team near the bottom of the list. Most likely, the team’s failure was influenced by the change of players and personnel, because it is a very risky tactic. However, there is hope that the new Valiant lineup will rehabilitate itself next season and show great results.

17. BOSTON UPRISING

The team’s main player is Sang-beom “Munchkin” Byeon

The Boston Uprising roster was subject to major changes back in 2020. There were several major changes in a short period. The year 2021 was a quieter year for the team, with the lineup remaining more stable. The last change was the addition of GaebullSsi in April of this year. The OWL rankings indicate that the team is in one of the last lines. Boston Uprising was quite weak in 2021 and did not achieve impressive results.

16. FLORIDA MAYHEM

The team’s main player is Baek “Checkmate” Seung-hun.

In 2021, the Florida Mayhem team stood out with serious ups and downs. The composition of the team remained the same, without any changes. The only thing is that the team’s content creator left, which had almost no effect on the team. Stability did not provide the team with good results, and it remained at the bottom of the Overwatch League rankings. At the same time, Florida Mayhem managed to surprise many.

The team managed to secure a good spot in the May Melee tournament. Unfortunately, Florida Mayhem didn’t have any other positive results this season.

B-LEVEL TEAMS (11-15)

The following five teams make up the bottom half of the mid-table group. The top positions in this part of the standings guarantee two play-in spots. To achieve this, there are serious battles between several teams.

15. TORONTO DEFIANT

The team’s main player is An “ANSOONJAE” Soon-Jae.

Toronto’s roster has been flexible this season. Several players have been replaced and others have come in their place. The player Gl1tch, who left the team due to retirement, has been replaced, and the assistant coach has also left. The squad is quite large and has enough outstanding players. For example, ANSOONJAE, who currently tops the list of the best players on his team. Even given the impressive roster, ANSOONJAE has not been able to produce decent results this season. Something probably didn’t go according to plan.

From time to time, Toronto has been impressed with its results. They participated in a tournament where they made it to the May Melee standings. After that, however, they were unable to build on their success. Thanks to some good games, they started the season well, but soon something went wrong. The team started with a few wins: they beat Paris 3-1 and Atlanta Reign 3-2. After that, there was a string of losses. “Toronto is not one of the best teams this season and is not high in the Overwatch rankings. But that doesn’t negate the fact that the team hasn’t been able to reach its serious potential.

14. HOUSTON OUTLOS

The team’s main player is Min-Jun “PIGGY” Shin.

The Houston Outlaws team is to be commended, as it has risen seriously in the Overwatch League rankings over the past few years. The 2021 roster was pretty much unchanged, with only 1 player leaving the team and being replaced by another. The team started the season extremely well: it overcame the whole way in the May Melee standings. Even with the loss to Dallas, the Houston Outlaws competed very hard and fought to the very end. With a solid win over the Shock, in week one of the tournament, the Houston Outlaws were able to make a big difference in the rankings for this season’s teams.

The Houston Outlaws are still showing positive results in 2021. The team tore into the June Joust standings. Even considering another loss to Dallas, the team has beaten some tough opponents such as; Toronto and Florida. Houston has improved this year and it is possible that the team can build on its success in the new 2022 season. The Houston Outlaws are not one of the best teams in the OWL rankings, but they have serious potential.

13. PARIS ETERNAL

The team’s main player is Arthur “Didro” Szanto.

Paris Eternal has recently gained its notoriety as a team that has had trouble adjusting. The team’s players have had difficulty progressing in the League. It has been extremely difficult for them to adapt when there has been a major shift in the balance of the game. The lineup of the team has undergone serious changes this year. Paris Eternal left ELLIVOTE, its players such as Vestola and Dridro. Unfortunately, these changes harmed the success of the team this season.

In 2021 Paris was unable to take the lead in the League. Paris Eternal lost to other teams in the qualifiers of May Melee and June Joust. At the same time, the team was able to qualify for the last group of the Summer Showdown. Although Paris Eternal lost to Washington, it fought very decently. The team is not the best in the Overwatch League rankings, it still shows pretty good results and progress.

12. GUANGZHOU CHARGE

The main player of the team is Sw-hwan “Choisehwan” Choi.

The Guangzhou team ranked lower in the OWL Power rankings than in previous seasons. The year 2020 was more successful for Guangzhou Charge. It finished fifth in the regular season and fourth in the Asian playoffs. At the end of the year, this kind of performance ensured a very good place in the rankings. The Guangzhou Charge finished in 3rd place when they participated in the NetEase Esports X Tournament earlier this year. Although overall, 2021 was not a good year for Guangzhou Charge, it failed to achieve better results. The team only had one win each in May Melee, June Joust, and Summer Showdown tournaments. These indicators are considered to be bad enough and do not make a positive impression.

There are still high expectations for the Guangzhou Charge team, even considering the rather poor results. The team composition has potential. However, some reasons prevent it from truly opening up. According to the Overwatch League rankings, the Guangzhou Charge team is in the middle of the list. Due to the negative results, we can expect the team to fall in the Overwatch League rankings next season.

11. GLADIATORS OF LOS ANGELES

The team’s main player is Ji-hyeok “birdring” Kim.

The LA Gladiators are a team that has firmly cemented its position in the middle of the League. The year 2020 was a special year for the team as the roster underwent major changes that year. Before the start of the season, the team’s ranks were filled with new players. However, this harmed the LA Gladiators’ performance: the team did not move up in the rankings much. At the moment, the LA Gladiators feature some strong players, which include: Moth, Birdring, and Kevster. Unfortunately, so far they have not been able to reach their potential.

The LA Gladiators have been able to make their way into the Summer Showdown and June Joust tournaments. In each of them, they were able to hold out long enough, steadily improving their results. However, the quality of play does not yet allow the team to be in the top 10.

A-LEVEL TEAMS (6-10)

10. WASHINGTON JUSTICE

The team’s main player is Gui-un “Decay” Jang.

2021 was a pretty good year for the Washington Justice team. It has managed to make it to the A. The only thing is that Washington Justice is at the bottom of the list of A teams. Although it has not been able to make much progress, Washington Justice has improved. The team’s roster stayed pretty much the same, with only minor changes. Ria left the team, retiring before a new player with the nickname Assassin came on board. Washington Justice’s roster was fairly consistent and it was probably good for their play. They improved their play this season.

Washington Justice failed to qualify for June Joust. But she did manage to advance to May Melee. In the Summer Showdown, the team also did quite well. Yes, Washington Justice suffered a setback in the game against Dallas, but thanks to several subsequent victories, the team made it into the top ten of the Overwatch League rankings. Washington Justice has serious potential. If the team’s development doesn’t slow down, there’s a good chance that it will achieve even more impressive results next season.

9. NEW YORK EXCELSIOR

The team’s main player is Sung-Hyeon “JJoNaK” Bang.

The New York Excelsior team is not considered the best in the Overwatch League rankings. However, it has proven that it has rightfully earned a place in the top ten teams today. New York Excelsior’s path has not been easy enough. But they still managed to succeed and make it to the Overwatch League rankings. The 2020 season was less successful for the team, finishing only seventh in the regular season. New York Excelsior, meanwhile, seriously lost ground that year. In 2019, it was in third place in the playoffs. Fortunately for New York Excelsior, 2021 turned out pretty well.

This year’s season was a quiet one, with little change in the team’s roster. One player left and a new coach joined the team. The old players of New York Excelsior, for example, JJoNaK showed quite serious results. Thanks to this, the team rose in the Overwatch League rankings. At the same time, ahead of New York Excelsior expects a difficult road, which should pass to break through to the top of the rankings.

8. ATLANTA REIGN

The team’s main player is Kai “Kai” Collins.

The 2019 and 2020 seasons were very disappointing for the Atlanta Reign team. Atlanta Reign’s position has been quite low in previous seasons. It failed to finish in the top five, even though it seemed like they had the upper hand in winning some games, but something was going wrong. 2021 was a better year for the Atlanta Reign team. The June Joust tournament went well enough, Atlanta Reign was able to finish in 3rd place, and in the Summer Showdown, they finished 4th in the rankings. Yes, Atlanta Reign didn’t take first place, but it certainly showed how much it has improved.

The team roster for 2021 has changed only slightly. Kai and a few other staff members joined the ranks of players. Atlanta Reign’s 2020 roster was more prone to change. The stability of the roster in 2021 helped Atlanta Reign cope better and better each week with a volatile game balance. This season has turned out quite well for her. This is exactly the kind of team worth watching. It can still improve for the rest of the year, as well as make it to the top of the rankings for the 2022 season.

7. PHILADELPHIA FUSION

The team’s main player is Lee “Carpe” Jae-hyeok.

According to OWL Power Rankings, the Philadelphia Fusion team is ranked higher in 2021 than in previous years. Even considering the disappointing Summer Showdown games, Philadelphia Fusion still proved to be a very strong contender. By taking part in the 2020 Grand Finals, Philadelphia Fusion was able to finish in 4th place, an improvement over 2019. This year was less successful for Philadelphia Fusion, but the team is still ranked in the Overwatch League as one of the best teams.

Philadelphia Fusion is so strong because of its roster. It includes the following players: Poko, Carpe, and FunnyAstro. These players stand out significantly and are considered to be the best.

6. HANGZHOU SPARK

The main player of the team is Xu “Guxue” Qiulin.

As early as 2019, the Hangzhou Spark team has been showing stable and quite successful performances. Since that time, it has been in a good position in the Overwatch League. The year 2020 was very successful, Philadelphia Fusion managed to take part in the playoffs and other tournaments. For example, in Overwatch Shanghai Masters, Hangzhou Spark placed second. In 2021, it managed to top the Summer Showdown. But unfortunately, Hangzhou Spark dropped out of the tournament, losing the opportunity to take 5-8th place. This result can be explained by two serious competitions in the part of the League in which the team participated.

Hangzhou Spark can be called a consistent team. All season the team showed excellent results, but it did not allow them to get into the top 5 teams. In 2021, a minimum of new players joined the Philadelphia Fusion. However, Hangzhou Spark left several old players and there were some serious personnel changes. It is hoped that in the new season, 2022, Philadelphia Fusion will better adjust to the changes and take a higher position in the Overwatch League rankings.

S-LEVEL TEAMS (1-5)

5. SEULE DYNASTY

The team’s main player is Jaehui “Gesture” Hong.

According to the Asian portion of the Overwatch League rankings, the Seoul Dynasty team is considered one of the best. Considering that Seoul Dynasty is in the S-level of the League, the team is still behind the rest.

The year 2021 for Seoul Dynasty has been fairly stable, the roster has remained virtually unchanged. The only thing that has changed is Toyo has been moved to the main roster. Shifting players may be a tactical move that gives you an advantage. The stability of the roster is one of the reasons for the team’s success in 2021.

4. SAN FRANCISCO SHOCK

The team’s main player is Matthew “super” DeLisi.

For the past couple of years, Team Shock has been considered the best team in the Overwatch League. Unfortunately, things have changed a bit in 2021. Previously, Seoul Dynasty was able to win 2 championships, but this season’s results were less impressive. Unfortunately, they did not succeed, moreover, some competitions were extremely difficult for the team, and it was not even able to get into the main grid.

In some performances, the Shock team showed itself as a very strong player. Most likely, the low results this season was influenced by the retirement of the player ANS. Then, in the middle of this year (in June), another player – Striker left the team. Later, ANS did return, but we shouldn’t expect him to stay with Shock forever. Even though Shock wasn’t successful enough this year, the team is still very strong. Likely, the Shock can still get their reputation back. Shock is considered one of the best teams, but unfortunately, it is not the best right now.

3. CHENGDU HUNTERS

The team’s main player is Qui “GA9A” Jiaxin.

According to Overwatch League rankings, Chengdu Hunters is one of the top three teams. They have made it to the top of the Summer Showdown. The Summer Showdown tournament also went very well, the only thing: the team was unable to reach its potential in the June match.

The Chengdu Hunters proved more than once that they are at the top of the rankings for a reason. Even because Chengdu Hunters is inferior to 2 other teams in the Overwatch League rankings, it should not be written off. Perhaps by the end of the season, the team will rehabilitate itself and move up to the top of the rankings. Two of the players on the roster were promoted. The stable squad likely provided them with a stable game and high positions in the ratings.

2. DALLAS FUEL

The team’s main player is Han-been “Hanbin” Chol.

The Dallas Fuel team boasts perhaps the most serious breakthrough in the current OWL Power Rankings. The 2020 season was not a good one for the team, managing to finish just 9-11 in the playoffs. The regular season championships went even worse, with the Dallas Fuel finishing only 13th. In 2020, few would have guessed that the team was capable of making such a breakthrough and becoming a contender for the lead. However, Dallas Fuel proved that nothing is impossible.

The team won the May Melee. They also boasted a second-place finish at the June Joust and a third-place finish at the Summer Showdown. Dallas Fuel is a very special team. It stands out in the western part of the league.

1. THE SHANGHAI DRAGONS

The team’s main player is Min-seong “diem” Bae.

When looking for the best teams in the Overwatch League, you can’t ignore the Shanghai Dragons. This team stands out from the rest. Taking a look at the team’s results, you can see why it is considered to be so strong. Shanghai Dragons have won two tournaments, and in the third one, it rose to the second line. It is noteworthy that in previous seasons, the team also showed great results. Shanghai Dragons were the best team in Asia in 2020, after winning the playoffs and the regular season.

For the team, the 2021 season was quite quiet. The Shanghai Dragons roster for 2021 remained virtually the same. Only a few players were added to the roster. The core players have been with the Shanghai Dragons since 2019. Only two players joined the team in 2020 and two in 2021. Perhaps because of the immutability of their roster, Shanghai Dragons has achieved such high results. It is worth noting that the change of coach and the loss of player Diem had almost no effect on the team. Shanghai Dragons are at the top of the Overwatch League rankings and can undoubtedly wear the title of the best OWL team.

Can the Overwatch League reach past heights?

The end of September marked the end of the Overwatch League season. The venue for the final matches was Hawaii. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, viewers were unable to watch the season playoffs live. Luckily, everyone was able to follow the action via YouTube.

The incredible rehab of the Shanghai Dragons

One of the major shocks that occurred in the first season of the Overwatch League was the defeat of the Shanghai Dragons. The team managed to lose 40 out of 40 games… Such news was much publicized by many media outlets and the team received a lot of negative reviews. It was considered the worst even outside of its industry.

Such a debacle forced the Chinese organization to consider changing the roster. And so it happened: the original roster was changed to players from Korea. Unfortunately, the beginning of the second season was not very good for the team, it lost the first two games. But later was able to rehabilitate itself. The team was able to pull ahead and even won the third round. This win secured the team a $200,000 win.

 By the start of the third season, few people had any doubts about the team’s good play. Many considered the Shanghai Dragons to be one of the best teams in the League. The team won several rounds of OWL Season 3. However, its main achievement was to finish in the top three of the tournament. But the main achievement awaited the team in 2021.

By Season 4 of the OWL, Shanghai Dragons were already considered the strongest team. Its level of play was much higher than that of other teams. The team won two of the three stages of the game. In the last one, they won 2nd place. The final stage of the playoffs showed the real level of Shanghai Dragons. The team won 13 out of 15 maps! The Grand Final was very successful, with Shanghai Dragons defeating Atlanta Reign and taking home $500,000.

Official OWL Viewer Statistics

Watching the OWL 2021 stream on the official website gave viewers a chance to win great prizes. Each hour of viewing the broadcast could give different in-game items:

  • skins;
  • sprays;
  • and a host of other bonuses.

Unfortunately, such rewards still prevented the platform from gaining a large number of views. It is a sad fact, but every year, the number of viewers is rapidly decreasing.

According to the numbers, OWL 2021 Playoffs averaged 84,600 viewers. That means that the number of viewers is down about 9% compared to last season. At the same time, there was an increase in the airtime of the event. This figure has more than doubled: from 14 hours to 30 hours. According to the sum of viewing hours, there was an increase of 195%, which is not very much.

The largest number of viewers boasted the Overwatch League 2021 Grand Final. It featured a game between Shanghai Dragons and Atlanta Reign. During this period, there was a peak of views: 134.3 thousand viewers watched the broadcast. Other “battles” cannot boast the same figures. At their peak, they all garnered less than 100,000 views. Interestingly enough, three San Francisco Shock team games were in the top five most-watched games.

The most popular team in the tournament is the Shanghai Dragons. The number of its audience was around 96.4 thousand people. The second place in this indicator can boast a team Philadelphia Fusion. Its fans numbered 88.7 thousand people. The support is colossal because the team played only twice in the playoffs. For this reason, this team’s viewing total was lower than the other teams in the top 5.

Unfortunately, taking into account the basic viewership metrics of OWL 2021, we can conclude the lowest viewership among the league’s four seasons. Compared to the first season, average viewership numbers are down 35% in 2021. If you take the peak values, the drop was 62%. The single YouTube broadcast probably contributed to this result. In the first two seasons, OWL was also broadcast on Twitch, where it garnered over 300,000 viewers at one time. At this point, the numbers have halved.

Changes that await players in the next season

The next season of the Overwatch League will bring with it several changes. For example, teams will play on an early build of Overwatch 2. Teasers showing the gameplay were shown by Activision Blizzard during the OWL 2021 playoffs. Will this have a positive impact on viewership numbers? We will know at the start of the new OWL season. It is scheduled to begin in April 2022.

Opening of the 2020 season

Blizzard has radically revised its priorities regarding Overwatch as an esports discipline. As a result, the company decided that the four best teams of the 2020 season will play with the four teams from the lower bracket of the past, and the best players will remain in the competition, regardless of the team result. Trials – this is the name given to this direction.

This castling will not affect the schedule in any way, and all events will harmoniously fit into the game schedule. According to the organizers of the tournament, such events will only improve the process, attract a new audience and add mystery to the competition.

What will the winners get?

The winners of the OOD will receive cash prizes in the amount of $ 1,800 as a reward and will be included in the major leagues and guaranteed to secure a place in future competitions. All other participants who took 5th-16th place in the standings will be rewarded with a $20 coin for each team member.

OOD 2019: What did you remember about the previous season?

OOD 2019 was a kind of training base, a springboard for future events. That year, both the players and the audience were tested for strength. Organized in 2019, the tournament was a novelty for players fighting among themselves without much incentive. And the organizers gave each of them a chance to try their hand at esports. The North American region was used for testing. 43 teams registered their slot and started their big marathon, which was openly broadcast. Everyone present had only positive emotions.

As a result, OOD can rightfully be considered the best tournament for finding talented players, regardless of the region of residence. The atmosphere of constant motivation and thirst for victory is the main incentive for all players, and for the audience – a chance to raise some money by betting on the strongest teams.

There is no data yet on how many Overwatch players are still in the ranks of the most active fighters. Some skeptics assure us that the times of Overwatch are long behind, and today it’s time to have an eye for something new. For some reason, the Overwatch army of fans has decreased slightly in 2021 but the game industry is developing in a spiral, which means that yesterday’s decline means tomorrow’s rise. We have compiled some updated information on the current number of active Overwatch gamers and that’s what we got.

Great start

Some games have to adapt for a long time until they are noticed and loved. Another thing is Overwatch. The game caught success from the very first days after release. The shooter was launched in 2016 and users from many countries immediately got hooked on this cool novelty.

Just imagine – in the first 7 days, users spent almost 120 million hours in Overwatch gaming sessions. After a month since the release, Blizzard announced that the community of regular Overwatch punters has risen to an unheard-of 10 million players. The game developers have earned hundreds of millions of dollars on the shooter in just a couple of months. It was an unexpected and such a sweet success! In addition, the constant profit was brought by the sale of boxes with different loot that gamers used in the game.

By the way, this exciting shooter game became popular even before the official release. Then, the open beta version of the game attracted a multi-million audience of gamers worldwide. This thing caused a greater increase in playing time levels.

But here it should be understood that these figures reflect the number of registered entries in the Overwatch game. At the beginning of this year, this number was equal to 60 million Overwatch accounts. If we compare the statistics of the last 5 years, it will become obvious that starting from 2018, the number of players began to go down.

Rate of decline

We don’t know for sure, as Blizzard does not provide data on the current number of active Overwatch users but after studying the sources of the company’s income, one can determine the average number of gamers. So, in 2021, the number of active Overwatch gamers is approximately 10 million. This is evidenced by the company’s annual income reports. Nowadays, nearly 10 million punters play that shooter monthly.

If you compare the data from previous years, it is clear, users play Overwatch much less. In 2019, the number of viewers of Overwatch esports matches decreased to 14 thousand people. Although a couple of years ago this figure was 47 thousand viewers. In 2016-2017, the number of regular gamblers was about 35 million users. As you can see, the figure has almost tripled. In addition, Twitch views have significantly decreased.

What is the reason for this decrease? Gambling experts claim that the reason for this state of affairs was the lack of content, as well as some changes made by developers for the latest versions of Overwatch.

How about esports?

If we consider the success and popularity of Overwatch from its esports option, then the picture is a bit different. There are various statistics for that format and they are more positive. That has always been the case, and the Overwatch esports section develops according to different conditions.

Anyway, you can observe a general decline in popularity for the Overwatch esports game. Many users now choose other cybersport competitions, such as Valorant and others. And that trend is becoming more and more noticeable, just look at the esports statistics for 2020-2021, where the indicators of several top multiplayer shooters are presented. Also, in 2020, lots of active punters from Overwatch teams were fired for various reasons.

The compositions of esports teams began to be updated rapidly. So, a team of Chinese gamblers was assembled for Valiant games. The Atlanta Reign line-up, however, still has many Overwatch members. Only time will tell how all these events will affect the overall trend of Overwatch esports games. Perhaps, such changes will favorably affect the number of Overwatch players and the decline of popularity will transform into rise

Waiting for a new release

In parallel with the decline in the number of active Overwatch users, the gaming community has set its sights and hopes on the upcoming novelty – the second version of the famous shooter. Overwatch 2 will be released very soon, at least that’s what Blizzard developers promise.

What can we expect from the new product? A new version will come with an improved form – both the design of the game and the technical characteristics. All this may cause an increase in the popularity of the game, and so a huge army of Overwatch users will return to the monitors again to play an updated version of the well-known Blizzard product. Thus, the developers plan to regain the audience, the number of which has declined in the last few years. By the way, Overwatch 2 will be released with an updated cast of heroes and some stunning technical features.

Are you worried about the competitive Overwatch scene? Fans and commentators alike love to speculate about the untimely demise of such a big competitive game and ask, Is Overwatch Dead? Things change a lot from year to year, but one thing that gets said about Overwatch is that it has died or is slowing down.

Despite active teams, there are still some who think Overwatch League is dead or Valorant will kill Overwatch. It’s still too early to call the game dead when a sequel is in the works and there are still a lot of players.

Rather than speculate about the Overwatch League, it’s usually safer to assume that it’s dead. Even though the league itself may not be dying, the increased regulations and interest of fans could be taking a toll. There are still some problems with both the League and the Contenders, but they’re still pretty healthy. Even so, there are still a lot of teams and players that draw big crowds. Overwatch has made a few mistakes, like the hero pools getting muddled and the unpopular role queue, but I don’t think it’s accurate to say it’s dying. At the moment, the biggest obstacle is the loss of sponsors.

So is this just another case of the internet getting worked up over nothing, or is Overwatch really heading down the tubes? We’re here to help you understand what people mean when they ask if Overwatch is dying. We’ll even see if the first-person shooter really is already dead.

What is the current popularity of Overwatch?

When you ask, “Is Overwatch still popular and active?”, you’re asking a much simpler question.

Overwatch is still a fairly popular game, but most metrics show that it has fallen far short of what it once was. Despite the fact that Overwatch League isn’t as obvious as it once was, it doesn’t have the same viewership numbers as it used to. It’s almost impossible to get into a game on the title anymore because the queues have gotten so long. Right now, a lot of development staff members are under question due to external factors.

The fallout from the Activision Blizzard troubles means Overwatch is currently without sponsorship, and the names of the heroes have to be changed so they don’t get mixed up with real-life names. Overwatch is clearly having some issues right now, so it’s no wonder people are asking “Is Overwatch dead?”.

Despite all that, the game itself and the gameplay are still thought to be pretty fun. Maybe it’s just a matter of the title entering a transitional phase. Consequently, it’s not updated regularly and only makes the news when it’s problematic. While Overwatch is still popular, there aren’t many people playing it.

Overwatch is dying? What does that really mean?

A game like Overwatch will be nearly impossible to judge if it’s dying without knowing how long it will last. In general, most games have an active online community that dies off after a few years. Some games, like Smash Bros Melee, last longer despite being replaced, while others are dead when they come out. For the most part, games come out, people play them, they get sold cheaply for a short time, then they get forgotten. Then nostalgia kicks in again and they get remade or become retro. However, over the last few years, it’s become clear that this model doesn’t work for all types of games.

Even the most niche of games can survive after the developers have stopped supporting them, thanks to the competitive and speedrunning communities. The competitive community tends to stick with one version of a game for a long time, checking for updates and balancing changes rather than switching versions. Esports are becoming more popular, so more games are available as services. This means the game will be active for a lot longer than usual, with regular updates and patches to keep it fresh. How does this influence the question of whether Overwatch is dead?

You have to look at the second category. Even though it’s been around for longer than most games, up until recently, the game received regular updates despite being around for so long. Although the news was updated regularly, people still speculated about the future. According to Google Trends, the question of whether Overwatch will survive is being asked about as often as it is now.

There aren’t many games that last long enough to remain relevant long after their prime. That’s the case with Overwatch. There’s also a sequel coming, so the lifespan of one title will be different from Overwatch’s. Even though the game seems to have a bright future, news of players and streamers leaving the game is everywhere. Additionally, we should mention the recent Overwatch League news about players jumping ship and joining Valorant. What does all that mean for the future of Overwatch? By comparing past instances where Overwatch was proclaimed dead with what’s happening now, we can learn a lot.

How’s Overwatch doing? Is it dead yet?

It’s a no, in a nutshell.

You’ve probably seen a lot of memes that say Overwatch is dead. This isn’t true, since a game can only be considered ‘dead’ if the developers don’t support it.

Even though Overwatch gets a lot of updates, balance changes, and events, players still love it. Currently, the developers are working on a sequel that keeps most of the multiplayer elements. There’s a couple of things that make it pretty clear that no, Overwatch isn’t getting anywhere anytime soon. Overwatch League is also a big thing. Whenever it’s played, stadiums are packed to capacity and it attracts a lot of people. Basically, Overwatch League not dying anytime soon isn’t going to happen.

It may make you wonder why people keep ranting about how Overwatch is dying or dying. Most of this is due to people overreacting to minor problems with Overwatch, which aren’t really that big of an issue.

Overwatch’s biggest problems in 2021

Overwatch is having a tumultuous year in 2021. The problem isn’t dead, but if it isn’t fixed for a long time, it could lead to its demise. Here are the most important factors:

Overwatch problems with development staff

Activision Blizzard games are facing a lot of problems right now due to the ongoing turmoil and fallout caused by their developers and management team. The damage appears to have been minimal to Call of Duty. However, they brazenly claim to be unaffected as one of the games was developed by only one division of Activision Blizzard. Overwatch has gotten the most attention, though. This doesn’t mean Competitive Overwatch is dead, but it can lead to problems down the road.

We’ve already lost the director of the upcoming sequel due to a mysterious incident. Unexpectedly, it has been revealed that a recently disgraced employee of Blizzard inspired the name of a character in Heroes of the Storm. Due to this, some casters aren’t talking about the character. The fact that Blizzard hasn’t been very open about how they’re fixing things hasn’t helped the idea that Overwatch is dead.

It’s no secret that Activision and Blizzard are at odds, and that’ll probably result in a lot of delays for Overwatch in the future. All this means a lot of turnovers and a clear financial impact for the company. Overwatch isn’t going to get back on its feet anytime soon with that. Moreover, it’s hurting the game’s popularity from a PR standpoint, which is especially hurtful during a low-engagement period for the game anyway.

Overwatch League has a sponsorship issue

Within a short period of time, the Overwatch League became one of the biggest esports success stories in history. With the speed at which it grew, it became an esports juggernaut in a very short period of time. But things seem to be slowing down just as fast now. The League isn’t doing well, and the revised format hasn’t made much difference after a few weeks. Additionally, it’s losing sponsors to the point where it’s losing money. The fact that Overwatch is on the verge of bankruptcy is probably the biggest clue.

Due to Activision Blizzard’s ongoing crises, a growing number of companies are avoiding them. This trend is continuing with Overwatch. This must be having a huge impact on the Overwatch League.

Despite the commitments to franchise holders of OWL teams, it doesn’t seem like the League could shut down anytime soon. It looks like things aren’t looking too bright, so it’s likely that the Overwatch League won’t start with much pomp and circumstance until Overwatch 2.

Playing in-game – frustrations and problems

Overwatch has some aspects that don’t seem very well developed. What you get is a multiplayer shooter. That’s all you’re expecting to receive. For a long time, the game has been criticized for catering exclusively to esports fans and players, which makes it frustrating to play online for casual players. This problem hasn’t improved, it’s only getting more complicated. This is causing a huge queue time, as well as some other issues internally. Overwatch won’t be getting any more updates for a while, so these problems will remain.

The game is still getting updates with skins and ‘events,’ but they are actually just rehashes of past events. I don’t really think that there’s a worthwhile reason to keep playing Overwatch until the sequel comes out. Queue issues like this are only going to get more serious.

What’s the word on Overwatch 2?

Many of Overwatch’s problems can be summarized by saying that it almost seems like it’s waiting for Overwatch 2. An upcoming sequel is supposed to reenergize the franchise. In spite of this, it seems like Overwatch 1 has been put on hold. There have been a lot of PR misfires for the title and the league, so for the first game, you won’t get much to get it started. Meanwhile, players and fans will have to make do with what they have right now. Does this mean Overwatch is doomed? I don’t think it’ll be that dramatic, more like a lull in activity. The League will keep doing business as usual, but it might slow down a bit.

One question you need to know about Overwatch

We’ll keep this page updated every year since the question keeps popping up on Reddit and Google. Since Overwatch launched in 2017, there have been ups and downs, and fans have been plotting its demise for years. But Overwatch isn’t heading anywhere. This game has stayed resilient and endured all this time. Are you sure it won’t be the same in 2022?

Let’s take a look at each entry of this title’s troubled past one by one.

For the first time, Overwatch eSports was dying last year

Three of the biggest Overwatch teams dropped their competitive rosters in 2017. In line with Blizzard’s frequent theme of organizations who have hesitated to invest in the popular shooter game, many of those who have previously invested wish to withdraw.

Over the course of 2017, we’ve seen a lot of organizations dropping out. It’s still imperative to acknowledge that the sudden departure of three teams in two weeks is worrying. Although Blizzard announced a recent boycott, it’s likely that there’ll be one soon until the company addresses the issues, which multiple teams have repeatedly brought up in their departure statements.

Blizzard’s sponsors and teams have been complaining for a long time that the game developer doesn’t pay enough attention to their competitive scenes, especially Overwatch.

A lot of them have said there’s not enough funding, a lack of proper structure, and a general lack of focus and interest on Blizzard’s part. It’s been addressed by Blizzard since the setbacks happened, and they’ve taken care of their concerns. In the past, there have been concerns about Blizzard’s level of support, but now everyone is satisfied.

In 2017, a lot of teams left Overwatch

The first of the three teams to announce their plans to quit Overwatch sponsorship was Ninjas in Pyjamas, who did it in early June. Even though the roster they had signed initially was very good, NiP stated that ‘the scene hasn’t evolved’ for investors, a concern shared by a number of teams, not just them.

Blaming Blizzard for their decision to stop investing is not only wrong, but it also sounds like passive aggression since you mention that other teams might do the same.

NiP: “We’re thrilled to announce that NiP is now joining the growing list of organizations that have defined Overwatch as something to watch but not to get involved in due to the uncertainty of the scene.”

Additionally, Evil Geniuses announced they’re parting ways with the Overwatch roster too. Though they publicly said that the org and roster had mutually agreed to part ways, we must ask, was that really the reason behind the breakup?

EG: “Evil Geniuses wants to stress that this isn’t the end of our competitive Overwatch interest, and we look forward to what this scene brings.”

LCDC, a team that left the scene last year, was the latest. LCDC blamed its poor performance at the Overwatch Contenders for dropping the Overwatch roster, but they also directly blamed Blizzard for the decision. LCDC says Blizzard’s previous management of the scene has been extremely poor and has done more harm than any benefit, a very harsh statement from them.

LDLC: “We decided to stop the story after our results during the Overwatch Contenders and Blizzard Entertainment’s decision to end the story, which doesn’t encourage clubs like ours to continue investing in this game.”

Was Overwatch League going to die in 2019?

In the history of Blizzard, Overwatch became the fastest-selling game to reach 20 million players. There are still about 40 million people playing this game every month, even though these numbers have plateaued over the past couple of years. Still, you should think about how much stock you’re willing to put into declining numbers. As part of Blizzard’s free-to-play trials, all those newly registered players are recorded as active members of the community, regardless of whether they played the game or not. As well as making Overwatch look busier, this practice may unintentionally inflate the player numbers, which may give the impression that Overwatch is declining.

Overwatch League matches in New York City sold out the Barclays Center in 2019. Interestingly, Overwatch is a bigger draw to these arenas than traditional sports. There isn’t a single reason why these crowds showed up to watch a dead game. Overwatch’s death has nothing to do with the huge attendance in the league.

It’s still one of the best-selling PC, PS4, and Xbox One games for Blizzard Entertainment. In 2019, the Overwatch League will continue to reflect this trend, with interest picking up again and the whole thing getting elevated to a whole new level.

As 2019 drew near, it became increasingly clear that Overwatch was no longer in its initial release window. There were fewer players finding the game for the first time and getting hooked. The game has been out for a while, so this is to be expected. Moreover, 2019 was marred by Blizzard’s scandals involving Hong Kong and Overwatch League. It’s not necessary to rehash these topics again, but there was a backlash. While the game bounced back from this scandal, this big scandal caused the announcement of a sequel to be rushed.

Overwatch 2 – Was Overwatch dead in 2020?

There will be a next-gen Overwatch game soon (Blizzard hasn’t announced a release date yet). A lot of updated features are coming in Overwatch, including a more developed PVE mode. Blizzard may, however, make the game’s multiplayer backward compatible in the future. Players will still be able to play Core Overwatch without missing out on anything, no matter what changes are made.

I think this is a weird move for a sequel. Overwatch 2 is basically a glorified DLC covering the story mode of the original game. That doesn’t mean Overwatch is dying, in my opinion. I’m thinking Blizzard might want to refresh the game a little bit or boost its exposure a little.

The introduction of a new generation of consoles also contributed to the sequel’s release. The next-generation consoles can also handle other games besides Esports. Overwatch, on the other hand, has always been a full-priced retail product. Overwatch is essentially a game as a service that’s being sold as a short-lived title. If players on the next generation of PlayStation and Xbox wanted to play Overwatch, they’d have to buy it again. It’s very likely it’ll have to be returned back at full price again.

Straight ports of the original game won’t appeal to players if that’s the case. You already own a game that’s nearly five years old, why pay full price for it? Although this may not be the main reason behind a sequel, it is a plausible explanation for why a sequel is coming now. In addition to Call of Duty, Activision-Blizzard is also porting Warzone and Modern Warfare to the upcoming consoles, which will clearly outlive the ‘spin-off’ game. This way, Blizzard can sell Overwatch on the next-gen platform without having to double down on consumers, and they’ll create a new burst of popularity that’ll get any players who missed it the first time around back in.

I don’t think Overwatch will die in 2020 since there is a sequel coming out.

Trying to figure out why Overwatch is dying

When people say Overwatch is dying, they usually point out that Blizzard Entertainment laid off 800 staff at the beginning of 2019. It’s believed that the main reason behind Overwatch’s decline is a stagnant player base. Hearthstone’s, World of Warcraft’s, and Hearthstone’s player base are all rumored to have stagnant player bases.

It is not uncommon for fans of a game to jump to conclusions based on reports from this. AAA developers have often had their working conditions portrayed as miserable in the past. In the industry, it is common to bring on large numbers of staff to work on one project for a short time before terminating them.

Regardless of why Blizzard laid off staff, there’s no doubt that it wasn’t because Overwatch lost a few players for a few months.

For a short time, this much staff is required to only manage server maintenance for large numbers of players. Rather than that, layoffs are part of any large developer scaling up or down based on how many games they are working on at any given time.

Could VALORANT be the one that kills Overwatch?

In case you’re wondering whether Overwatch will be dead in 2020, you’ve probably seen all the fuss around Valorant. When this game started trending on Twitch, a number of content creators and players said they were switching from Overwatch to Valorant. Despite this, there’s some reason to be skeptical. In terms of gameplay, it is similar to Overwatch, but it has influences from other games and a unique gameplay system. It’s like a cross between Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch. Still, it’s still very early, so it might not be as popular as people think. The esports business is so big that players can bet on their own performances on sites like Unikrn UMode. This is probably substantial enough to support both Overwatch and Valorant.

Overwatch will keep winning, but Valorant won’t be able to stop it. In a few weeks, the Overwatch power rankings might change due to players jumping ship, although not all of them will. Overwatch League games regularly fill the biggest stadiums in the world and attract lots of people to Overwatch betting sites. However, it’s worth worrying about Valorant displacing Overwatch if it can draw such crowds and interest.

However, there’s no doubt that the whole “Is Overwatch Dying?” debate started because a few very vocal players decided to voice their opinions. It might make a lot of noise on Reddit and the Blizzard forums, especially in the echo chambers of sites like Reddit. However, in the real world, we all seem to enjoy Overwatch as it is, no matter how it is.

Blizzard needs to do a few things to save Overwatch sports

While Overwatch isn’t dying, there are definitely things Blizzard can do to keep their player base and keep attracting fresh ones. Fans can’t wait for Overwatch 2.0, with new maps, new heroes, and some seasonal events, and we can’t wait for the official release date.  Overwatch fans say Blizzard would benefit greatly from more community involvement in its development. Lead developer Jeff Kaplan kept us all in the loop during the Overwatch beta testing, but as time went on, updates became scarcer, and the isolation fans felt quickly became that ‘toxicity’ everyone complains about. In the beginning, I thought Overwatch’s habit of releasing updated versions of the game regularly was great. However, constantly having to download and install patches became a bit tedious after a while, and it quickly became obvious this was just another money-making scheme.

It would be nice if Blizzard just fixed this and didn’t pursue the ill-fated route of a solo story mission or a mobile Overwatch. As with Overwatch, this experimental feature quickly turned out to be useless, as every time it was implemented, it had a negative impact on the release of new updates. Additionally, they could provide their players with more stats to improve the system. It’s pretty easy to keep track of the opposing team’s movement. However, it’d be nice if we knew how much healing is done. This holds true for DPS and tanking as well. It’s easy to see why Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch game is smashing sales numbers. Nonetheless, the fact that people have been asking if Overwatch is dying since the day it was released does raise some serious questions about the future of this first-person shooter.

DDing from the Shanghai Dragons

Yang Jin-hyeok played DPS for Shanghai Dragons in the early days of the GOATS meta, which led to the introduction of a bunch of characters that weren’t otherwise playable. He often wins games by a hair’s breadth, and his Sombra play alters the flow of the game on a regular basis. He has an incredibly successful career despite only having a few heroes in his hero pool, despite its size, no matter what the meta is like. He’s done away with SD since 2020.

JJoNak from NY Excelsior

Although Sung-hyeon Bang is a support player, this is kind of a technicality – when it comes to DPS, one of his greatest strengths is using Zenyatta. The blurring of support and DPS doesn’t always work – not so with JJoNak. Even though he plays with some of the best players in the Overwatch League on his team, he consistently outperforms some of his DPS teammates because of his great aim. It shows how good he really is that he didn’t abandon his support role when he was driving kills.

Dallas Fuel’s Gamsu

In the OWL, Noh Yeong-jin plays for the retired team and he’s an esports veteran. It’s no secret that he has a long career in esports, both in esports and in the OWL. During his time as an overwatch player, he played for teams like Boston Uprising, Shanghai Dragons, and Dallas Fuel, as well as Dignitas and Fnatic in League of Legends. As soon as he retired, he announced he’d be playing League of Legends again, and thus OWL lost one of its best tanks.

Super from SF Shock

The best thing about Matthew DeLisi — is his ability to play Reinhardt aggressively and skillfully. SF Shock’s star has helped them win the Stage Playoffs, May Melee, and Countdown Cup since he joined in 2017. Super and his team walked away with a $1.5 million prize money with their win in the 2020 OWL Grand Finals, but they also got recognition for their winning streak.

Ryujehong, who plays for the Vancouver Titans

Despite being a content creator now, Jehong Ryu used to play flex support for the Vancouver Titans, and he was really good. He was well-known and feared for his accuracy and list of heroes. He can also play Moira, Zenyatta, D.VA, and Zarya well, despite his best playing on Ana. While he started his career with Seoul Dynasty, he is now one of the best players in the league with the Vancouver Titans. He even won the first Overwatch World Cup with his team.

Soebyeolbe, the legendary Seoul Dynasty warrior

Jong-ryeol Park focuses on hitscan heroes as his main approach to battle, making him one of the world’s best Tracer players. He started off with the New York Excelsior in the OWL, then transferred to the Seoul Dynasty. With him in the lineup, NY Excelsior had some amazing results – including winning Group Stage with a perfect 34/6 record.

Alarm from Philadelphia Fusion

We are happy to announce that Kyung-bo Kim has won the title of 2020 Rookie of the Year of the OWL. The flex support demonstrated his skills with heroes like Ana, Zenyatta, Moira, Brigitte, and Baptiste. Alarm made it to the Grand Finals at Fusion University, leading his team to the finals, but they lost. He’s certainly one of the best Overwatch players in the OWL, and one of the best newcomers.

Profit from Seoul Dynasty

Joon-Yeong Park has played DPS for London Spitfires since he started playing. Even though the first season wasn’t great, the third season gave him a chance to shine when he switched to Seoul Dynasty. Over the years, he’s made some legendary plays, and his team made it all the way to the Grand Finals, where they lost to the SF Shock. Profit’s team lost in the grand finals, but he was chosen MVP. Profit’s record-breaking season in 2020 was the first time he had more than ten thousand eliminations.

Lip from the Shanghai Dragons

Jae-Won Lee leads the Shanghai Dragons, who are currently playing for the team. Among the heroes he plays regularly are Sombra, McCree, Hanzo, Ashe, and Reaper. It’s been more than two years since he’s been with SD, so he’s seen some hard times and some incredible victories, like the CountDown Cup in 2020, the Group Stage in 2020, and the Nexus tournament in 2021.

ArK from Washington Justice

Hong Yeon-Joon played for two successful Overwatch teams, Washington Justice for one season and New York Excelsior for two. Even though he’s in the NYE lineup, he managed to win the Overwatch League’s opening season, as well as several Stage matches before it. Seeing a Mercy main perform as well as he does is rare, but seeing him play supporting characters like her, Baptiste, Lucio, Brigitte, and Ana has earned him a spot on our list.

We have compiled a list of the Top Overwatch Players in our opinion – it was difficult to pick given how many talented players are being signed to teams. What do you think of our list? Do you think we missed anyone? Do you remember which OWLer made you the most upset when he retired? Tell us about it.
